Staff Nurse

We are looking to recruit a Band 5 staff nurse to work within Respiratory Medicine on Ward 7 at at our Hospital. If you are a motivated and enthusiastic staff nurse then why not come and join our Team. This post is fully rotational between day and night shift. The post is a full time vacancy but we welcome those seeking part time employment.

Main duties of the job

Respiratory Medicine is currently provided on 2 wards within the hospital, Ward 7 is a 30 bedded unit which meets the needs of adult patients requiring in hospital treatment for a range of respiratory conditions. We work closely with the Respiratory Support Unit which is based on Ward 12. We work as part of an MDT which includes our Respiratory Specialist Nurses and Respiratory Physiotherapists.

You should have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a MDT.

Job responsibilities

  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
  • To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/dept in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.
  • To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
  • To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which
  • (a) engages, enables and empowers others
  • (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement
  • (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1st Level live NMC registered Nurse
  • Mentorship qualification or relevant qualification (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period)

Desirable

  • PP126/7
  • D32/33
  • Post Registration qualification in specialty
  • Diploma/degree in nursing
